the land of the Swiss

We arrived in Zuerich Switzerland after another overnite train this one we shared with a man and his daughter from Iraq, how bizzarre! After setting up our beds they insisted we chat and enjoy the evening they even gave us a susspicious box of stange sweet things from Iraq ( very dudious indeed :). However our fun was set to be interupted by an arse from hungary. He spoke no english and decided to argue and swap everyones beds and at the same time babeling something in hungarian. so after sleeping with one eye open we awoke to a gorgeous sunrise over lake zuerich and a pretty nice bread and jam breaky compliments of the train :D we took an early train to luzern which was lovely :) but then had to walk a trek and a half with our bags to a nearby hostel. So glad we did tho as it was really nice over looking a park and the Lake, the lady at the hostel was really cool too she let us have a shower before we checked in and she even let us borrow umberellas for the potential rain ! As we couldnt check in til 4pm we had to mooch around the town looking at some more old buildings and a bridge lol we also went to a funny museum that consisted of rocks, ice and maps. FACINATING !! but then something amazing happened and at the end as a treat we ended up in a really cool mirror maze (blackpool looked poo compared to this one !) haha there were so many of us in one room it was making us feel ill !! (need pics to explain). We then went back to the hostel at 4 and played dominoes :) and then we all had a snooze before going to the supermarket to stock up on water and tea (money was low at this point) not cool. We also had to make a little picnic up for the next day as we were going 10000 ft above sea level to Mount Titlis !!!

This day was amazing after 4 cable cars we r

Venice, Slovenia and the day in Austria

After the first overnight train of the trip, we arrived in Venice at 5am (errrrr!), and had to entertain ourselves until 9pm that night awaiting another overnight train to Slovenia. So we went for a mooch around the town and headed towards Rialto bridge. Ash thought Venice was really cool and Dean enjoyed it too :D After the bridge we went to San Marco square but much to our disappointment a lot of it was under construction so we couldnt enjoy it as much as we wanted :( We also got on a waterbus to Lido which is an island off Venice and we had lots of icecream and pizza and then went to the beach.
The next overnight train was very stressful, especially for Ash as there were 6 people in one very small cabin, plus a mixture of a headache, fat ankles and not being able to reach the top bunk just about topped it ! But it was ok as we got off and arrived in Slovenia at 2am, it couldnt have got worse when the hostels we planned to go to were full :( but then strangely a guy pulled up in his car and said he will take us to his hostel which was v.scary and we ran into one of the hostels that was full. But it turns out he was alright and he took us to the hostel he runs and it was probs the best one we stayed in :D. We did quite a lot in Slovenia we never thought we could, such as swim in Lake Bled which was beautiful and cured Ash´s swollen ankles (yaaaaay!) Ash also sent a postcard to her mum, dad and emma and hopes they get there soon ! We finished the day by going to a really nice bar/restaurant around the corner from the hostel where Dean and Ash had the best pizza ever and some sangria :) The day after this we mooched around the town awaiting an overnight train to Austria later that evening.
The train to Austria wasnt very cool as we had seats instead of beds and as there were five of us in there, we couldnt pull the seats down and it was rubbish !! Ash and Dean thought it wasnt really worth going to Austria as it was just full of old buildings we were too tired to look at and we didnt really have anywhere to go as we were leaving that night for switzerland so we didnt have a hostel to sleep at :( we did go and see the Freud museum and had chinese food which was good :D
next up when we have more time on the internet is Switzerland, Berlin and the final destination ... Sweden plus more pics when a USB port is found :D xx

Paris, Barcelona and Rome !!!!

helloooooo, dean and ash here typing from Rome waiting for overnight train to venice, sorry about the blog being so sparse we just literally havent had the time, so much so that ash's ankles have swelled up with all the walkin we've done hehehe.
first day was v.stressful as we got lost in paris after a whole day of travelling there (never trust google maps EVER !!!!) nightmare !! But ash's super B in French saved the day and we arrived at Hotel Etap a few hours later with only 4 hours to see the louvre and the eiffel tower ahhhhhh !!! wasnt cool but we did it and they were amazing :)
It wasnt so amazing getting up at 4.45am the next day to make the trains to ..... BARCELONA !!

After a long day on altogether 3 trains we arrived 12 hours later at 7pm in Barcelona, found a bargain of a youth hostel for 19 euros a night with air conditioning (YESSSS) !!! we then treated our selves to a groooovy spanish meal which included 3 tapas, paella and the best Sangria ever !! danny called me and dean fishes for drinkin sooo much hehehe
The next day was the chill out day at the beach after we booked the ferry tickets for the following night and of course after a long awaited and beloved Mcdonalds :D The walk to the beach was long and it was just toooo hot and ash burnt her scalp ooooops (now has a hat from Deans Mum and Dad (thanks :D)) The beach was immense and the sea was awesome, but we had to watch out for theives errrrr !!
The next day we went to see Goudi's buildings (a church that is still being built after 100 years (bloody hell) it was gorgeous but we didnt have time to queue up and it was far tooo hot to wait in the sun :(
next stop was a 19 hour ferry ride to Civitaveccia just north of Rome where Deans parents were eagerly awaiting our arrival, Bless :) we met a nice guy called harry who was from birmingham so that was cool and the ferry was so coool too as it had a pool, casino, games room and loads more :D however ash got her towel robbed by (we think) some people that were sleepin next to our luggage rail (dirty hobos)
the next night we arrived in Italy with a little touch of home stayin on the boat it was nice :)
went to vatican city the day after and went in to the basilica and the sistene chapel, ash had to where pants all day (rules) even though it was 44°C !!! the building were both really nice and the statues were awesome, but didnt know that the past popes are in glass coffins in there, that was a bit weird :S also sistene chapel took ages to get around the corridors to this little church seemed to take an age !! but it was good in the end.
the day after we went to the coloseum, the forum, panthion, and the best .. trevvi fountain ! ash couldnt walk as much tho because her ankles swelled up the night before and it was painful :( but we managed to get around everythin and had a big fat icecream at the end mmmmm melon :D we also got conned in a coloseum tour which wasnt cool, she just read out of a book but walkin around it was good.
We had a great time at the parent's boat it was great to see them and looking forward to corfu in four weeks yaaayy !! also thanks for the great food and bikes and sunken soap (sorry) and Qatar hat and towel and book and maps :D
just left there at 2pm after an emotional farewell :( to catch a bus at 2pm to catch a train to Rome and now we're waitin for an overnight train to Venice which shud be good
write soon Ciao !! xxxx
